Hey! Why are some of you assuming this is pertaining to me? I'm 21, I'm trying to find out for a relative.

yes, all he/she has to do is get with his probation officer (p.o.)and usually they can call to the city/state you are moving to. It is very common for detention centers to do this, if the person is in a state jail it is most likely that they will do this in order to keep over-crowding down. My p.o. did this for me when i moved from Florida to Alabama.

HI Minor,First I want to say I hope you learn from your mistakes and don't carry getting into trouble into adulthood, unless you like being locked-up and losing your freedom. The first person you should talk to is your probation officer and if possible take your mom in with you. They can send you anywhere they want and usually the parents and family has to travel to see you no matter how far.Remember your being locked up because you screwed up and it is up to the judge if he or she will send you closer to where your mom lives.Your mom will need to find out who make that request to,and that will probably be the judge.

The probation provides where the offender should stay. If there is a violation, the probation will be annulled and the offender will be arrested.

Only if the courts agree to it because you are a minor they might make an exception, so you can be close to your family. Ask your lawyer.
