i know each field is different. i was wondering if there are rules requiring them to be at least a certain distance and if so what they are

There is no maximum distance for outfield fences. The minimum distance is 325 feet at the foul lines and 400 feet to center field (though parks built before the rule went into effect are allowed to have shorter fences, though the only such ballpark is Fenway Park).

there is no minimum, but if a fence was built under 250 feet, any homerun over it would be ruled a ground-rule double instead
