Is it Darwinism, or is it because it gets in the way of being trashy, shameless and cold-hearted? Femininity really doesn't mean being weak or subservient, does it? (I think not.)

Guns: Sure seems like it.

Skeptical: There's a lot of double standards for men as well. A man beaten up by a woman is laughed at. A woman beaten up by a man it pitied and the man is demonised. Effeminate men are ridiculed and despised by regular men, but masculine women are safe. And guys are expected to put out in bed, or end up as a laughing stock! We men have further to fall.

Maybe: That's perfectly alright.

Kessie: Don't you know what Darwinism is? It's the theory that says only the strong survive.

I am an ardent feminist and embrace my femininity completely. Why should I try to look like a man when clearly I am not.

I don't despise it, but some aspects of femininity get in the way of what I want or need to do. I live on a large country estate, and caring for the landscape involves the use of power equipment, so I wear clunky boots and jeans a lot of the time.

Femininity can be expensive as well. The groooming products, salon services, etc. I prefer to spend my money on travel or educational pursuits.

Edit: Questioner: Thank you, but I was not seeking approval.

It all depends on how you define femininity. A lot of girls and women associate it with being weak and subservient like you said, so why would they want to be feminine? Most girls and women want to be able to be strong as well as admit they have weaknesses-it'd be healthier if both men and women were encouraged to be more feminine and more masculine. We're not robots, we are human beings with a wide range of abilities and interests.

This does not happen. Your premise is incorrect. Feminity has nothing to do with being subservient or putting another's needs first, in fact this is exactly the opposite of the feminine potential and hurts everyone involved. To be truly feminine is to be all that you were created to be, a complement.

It's simply because it's very much complicated to be a girl. You need to spend so much just to make yourself be acceptable in our society. Another thing is being feminine has double standards to some societies that will oftentimes make a girl lose her identity just to fit in. Although femininity does not mean weak at all, some girls would still cling to this adjective because they are always despised by society in a real sense.

"Woman's virtue is man's greatest invention." Skinner

I doubt Darwin has anything to do with it - more than likely it's just because femininity is a made-up concept - made-up, by males. Females want the choice to be either feminine or not -not unlike guys who want to be manly - or not (manly as in the made-up concept of what being manly means).

As Rio said, for some women/girls that's just not who they are. Why should we all try and fit into labels that have been molded for us by society and the media?

And before anyone says anything, no, I don't try to be manly. I try to be who I am without paying attention to molds. That turns out to be leaning on the feminine side, but with some "tomboy" in me.

I don't despise it but I also resent being expected to be a certain way or have certain reactions based on what I am instead of who I am.

I despise traditional femininity because it doesn't reflect who I really am. I don't have to act a certain way to be a real woman.

Only the weak get trampled on; yes tis true, even when as you put it they are subservenient. Being as obedient as I am I grasp my feminity with a firm handhold.
