First, are you SURE you need a rhyme for this word? Is it possible you can rewrite the line so that the word at the end is an easier one to find a rhyme for?
If not -- there is only ONE rhyme for "people" that is a "PERFECT" rhyme, that is, in which ALL the sounds from the accented vowel to the end match EXACTLY.
That is, as many have mentioned, "steeple".
Note that ending with "-ple" is NOT enough. The rhyme MUST begin with the vowel of the accented syllable (the long e).

BUT... there is probably another solution. Poetry OFTEN uses something called "near rhymes" in which MOST of the sounds match exactly. How well the rhyme works depends on how close the remaining sounds are AND the rhythm of your particular poem, or even the "style", since "humorous verse", for example, often allows much looser rhymes. (In other words, in the end you'll have to test the possibilities yourself.)
The BEST near rhymes usually have perfectly matching VOWELS (called "full assonance") and an exactly matching FINAL consonant (called... "final consonance"!) So, in this case, you want to start with words that have that long, accented e, and end with the L-sound. If you have a consonant sound between them that is fairly close to the /p/ sound, that will help a lot.
Try these:
gleeful
evil, medieval, retrieval, upheaval, weevil
beetle, fetal
beadle, needle, tweedle, wheedle
beagle, eagle, legal, regal
One other possibility -- the "long a" in English is actually a combination of TWO vowels, the second of which is the long e. So, you might find that the following words work:
maple, papal, staple
able, cable, fable, label, sable, stable, table
naval, navel
