Wonderful thoughts! Many of the above suggestions are just fine for you. I'd add that your reluctance to draw people is because either you're not good at it [ YET! ] or possibly have a leaning towards more structured or architectural objects.

Now, there is nothing wrong with that! I do like that myself. There are a wide variety of 'objects' that you can choose from! Of your subjects that you DO like, you may go out of your realm and do a abstract of just a part of a boat, with part of a cloud and water in the background, perhaps on a grander scale and maybe include part of a lighthouse. [this helps a lot with dimension.] This will spread your knowledge of things to use your eyes to 'see' things differently.

You may, as an example, find a sculpture and draw only the folds in the clothing, [chiaroscuro] and animal, [fur/hair, texturing] and a large seashell [texture, chiaroscuro and perhaps 'transparency' in subject matter.] One other thing is you may set up some glasses or bottle with water and attempt to draw that as shapes. Or, find a building and draw the steps and hand rail... that helps you in your perspectives.

Many of the previous subjects are great, again, maybe you could try to draw a variety of boats, shores, weather conditions and a 'suggestion' of someone there on that boat, shore or fishing.
Keep in mind that when you sketch, just add a little something that is 'scary' for you to draw. This builds up your confidence! Please do date your drawings... this will help you to measure your ability for those drawn in say, 6 mon., or a year from now!
Happy drawing and best wishes!

Go online and do an image search. Look for a KIND of boat you have never drawn, before.

A good artist will stretch his "artistic muscle" to grow into a BETTER artist.

And, may I suggest, that you branch out and work at developing your weaker skills. A good athlete does not practice what she already does well. She practices what she does NOT do well, in order to get better at it.

Start drawing people. For a transition, draw people doing things on boats, such as setting sail, fishing, or even partying.
