Keep it in the bank and never carry cash

Long ago, I was taught the difference between a "need" and a "want." I try to keep that in mind as I do any shopping. I also have a a budget planned out and written down. For each check I get, I put some money away, so I know I have a fund for emergencies (if my car breaks down, I know I can get it fixed without having to borrow money from anyone). Some of my check goes to "fixed price" items, such as rent, insurance and car payments. Some goes to variable price items, which I allot room for variance, like gas, groceries and so on. What little left over goes to "wants" like going to movies or clothing. No matter how much you make, budgeting is the best way I've found to spend my money wisely. I know if I won't suffer without an item, (I classify this as a "want") I will wait until it goes on sale or for good deals.

I am not good at manage my money. All my accounts are handled by my wife. Yes, she spends it wisely. It is a knack which can be acquired by constant diligent practice.
Tip: Keep all your money in the bank and chill out for some time. Make a list of bills of receivable and to pay bills and fix priorities. Work it for two/three months and you will realize the remarkable improvement in your finances.

well...a good way to manage is to have two accounts that are completely separate and in diff banks (not like the joint wamu cause you can transfer money back and forth online although it works well for some people). if you job offers direct deposit you can split you paycheck say 80% to checking and 20% to savings (or whatever is reasonable for you)...and then just forget about the savings account, treat it like it doesn't exist so it won't tempt you. you should figure out how much bills cost you each month and keep at least 150 to 200 more in your checking at any time (just in case your bills flex a lil)...the rest you should spend on indulging yourself cause well you cant save all your money and you need to be spoiled once in a while...use savings for vacation, school or emergency and you should be fine.

Before buying something, think about it and ask yourself "do I really need this?" and if the answer is still yes in 24 hours, then buy it. Never compulsive buy and always think it over. It pays to have your money in a very high intrest paying bank such as ING, as this will give you even more spending money.

I keep it in the bank, and keep an ATM card that is not a debit card. It keeps me from spending all my money on stupid things, and I never carry more than 20$ unless I'm going shopping.

I budget a reasonable allotment of money to play with. When it's gone-that's it. For larger purchases If I really want it I save the play money in an envelope until I have enough. That kind of helps with impulse buying for me.

Half of my allowance I save in the bank, about another quarter is saved in my house for emergencies, and the rest I spend on going to the movies, buying smoothies, shopping, etc.

We pay bills, mortgage, car payments etc and buy what we need, then save the rest. My husband gets $300 a week for spending, and I take care of everything else.

first of all dont spend it. That would help (Captain Obvious) lol anyways, if you really want to save up for something good don't buy ANY thing unless its a necessity (food, gas) thats what I do, but yeah saving money is still really hard.
