A real man always opens a door for a lady. I live in ATL, and even the little gentleman, I mean 12 and under hold the door open for ladies. They are so impressive. So when a man does not hold the door open for me, I am awestruck and wonder where their mother failed and what type of home they were raised in. If they can not do something as simple as hold the door for a woman, they are showing they do not have respect for ladies and do not know how to treat a real lady. Girlz, if your man does not hold the door open for you, drop him like he is hot!!!!

My husband does. We have been together for 3 years now and it still hasnt changed. He opens doors for me like going into a building but not car doors. The car door thing i actually dont feel it necessary, so that i dont mind. When i was younger my mom always used to say, "men will always open the door for you until it gets old for them" (which is always sooner than it should be), so with that in mind the first time he did it i told him "if you plan on stopping the door opening thing, id rather you NOT do it at all!". He just smiled and so far he still does it. I just think it depends on what each guy thinks. Some are more trained then others lol.

I don't expect a man to open the door for me, since I usually do that as a courtesy to anyone who is right behind me-- be it a young woman, an elderly person, or a man. But there have been instances where I hold the door open for a man who is behind me, and what's worse is he doesn't even say thank you. I think I let the door slam shut just for his audacity to expect it ... men just aren't gentlemen these days ... and I'm merely just talking about men with manners. period.

As a guy I definitely try to open the door always, and sometimes girls appreciate it. Though I have known some who did not seem to enjoy me doing it. As to why, I do not know;I never bothered pushing into that topic since it seemed pointless. I think it is nice since it shows a guy is willing to go out of his way for a girl.

I do not expect anyone to open a door for me (my older brothers used to slam the door before I could get to it!)
It is nice for someone (anyone) to hold the door open for someone who's carrying something and could use the extra hand.

Women want to be treated like this but then whine when there's an imbalance in something like average salary.
For anyone ladies answering yes to this: either support equal rights and don't expect ridiculous, archaic pampering like having a door held open for you, or be happy as the stay at home mother who gets told what to do.

I always though it was the gentlemanly thing to do, maybe I am a bit old fashioned but I always did for my wife. Central locking has queered my pitch a bit because the car does not need unlocking at the door any more.
