I believe suggestibility can play a big part in "experiencing" the paranormal. I also believe that, for the most part, you need to first believe in the paranormal before you start interpreting your experiences as paranormal. In that way, being raised by a believer in the paranormal would increase the likelihood that you would be a believer as well. So yes, I believe family traditions play a large part in what it is you believe.

I hope this helps my grandfather his daughters (my aunt and mother) my sister, my self and my daughter have seen ghosts and are sensitive to their energies. I'm going to have to say that there is a good chance that if someone in your family is a sensitive or a medium then chances are someone else in the family is too. As you can see by my list of family members I'm going to say that heredity plays a part in interaction with the paranormal. Remember that just because you can't see them doesn't mean you are not sensitive to them. I don't see them all the time but I sure can feel them and sometimes I can feel their emotions if they're strong enough. My daughter and I just went on an investigation where we "felt" the sadness of a little girl, we didn't see her but one of the other members of the group got an EVP of a little girl's voice. Hope this was helpful. Take Care, Patti

not nessessarily. It depends why they are experiencing things.
If it nighttime problems, then they might have a sleeping disorder. These can run in families, and probably consist of about 80% of belief in paranormal experiences.
Also, it might just be thier imagination running away with them, in which case you dont have to worry about anything, unless you have an active imagination.
They might also be experinencing problems with thier brains.

Just remember that the one thing that they definitly arent seeing is dead people who have returned from the grave or become earth bound. This belief is fun for movies and stories, but in real life all evidence is based on rumors and old wives tales. Believe me if there was such a thing as a ghost there would be ample legitimate evidence to prove it and science would have figured out the mechanisms that allow such a phenomena to happen long ago.

for the record, sylvia brownes son inherited the ability to make money through BS, not the ability to see ghosts. Sylvia is a con-man and he headstrong determination to NOT verfy her super powers is pretty good proof of that. She has been given the opportunity to prove she is legit, but she refuses to do so.

thats supposed to be the way it happens, but I have yet to meet anyone that sees dead people on a regular basis. Thats like saying witches run in the family or saying you hand down the ability to be psychic. All of this would be nearly impossible to prove since none if it can be measured, touched, photographed, or listened to.The power of suggestion might make you more open to the idea of seeing ghosts, and you trust a family member most, so you do the figures and see what you come up with.

I can't speak for anyone else, but In the case of my family.. yes.

My Mother had the gift, I have it, my daughter has it and her daughter has it.None of my other children do. Another surprise was finding out that my Brother, who I didn't meet until a few years ago, also has it.

I had thought that it was partly genetic and partly environmental, the thing with my Brother would indicate that it is definitely genetic to some degree, as he was raised in a atmosphere that was not supportive of encouraging such things, while in our house it was considered normal (I grew up thinking everyone had spooks). I guess it's like any other sense, and some people have it more than others.

Luckily I've had other people (non-family) see spooks at the same time that I did.. very reassuring for one's sanity :o)

Some talents run in bloodlines, but there are several factors of which the bloodline is just one.
1. Bloodline (can be both male or female line)
2. Birth Astrology and topography or birth location
3. Qualities of the incarnating spirit
4. Proper training, excercise, balance between chakra's, preconceptions and local circumstances

I believe in the spirit world. I am am current member of the "Southern Illinois Ghost Hunting Team" (SIGHT) www.sight1.tk Now while I believe there is something out there, I have experienced enough for myself to know this. I also believe that a lot of people make fake stuff to try to get over on people. I also believe that the power of suggestion plays a huge part. When you see something your're not looking for is one thing but when you know you're looking for somthing out of the ordinary...everything starts to look out of the ordinary...lol...you got to be careful

I don't think it's genetic. I've seen lots of ghosts. I live in a house that is haunted as a matter of fact. I've seen 4 ghosts there. When my folks come to visit, they never see them and one of the ghosts is my Dad's mother.

Yes, I definitely believe this. My mother took the presence of ghosts as 'matter of fact', and thus all of us were around to experience it, and of 8 kids, 5 of us claim to be sensitive to spirit activity; the other 3 are the type not to admit it, so I don't really know about them. My son and daughter also experience 'ghosts' around them. And my grandson has told me some spooky stuff he seems to be in tune with and we never, ever discuss ghosts in his presence. (He's 9).

In many cases yes. My daughter lives in her father's house & just within a few months after he passed on she asked me to come over & smudge her house....she was afraid. She said she felt him walking past her in the bedroom & felt him watching her while she slept. I live in another area all together. My daughter is not as mentally strong as Iam. I did go see her & yes I smudged her house....I also told him to go towards the light & cross back & that he was scaring his daughter to no end. His presence was so strong I felt like I was loosing my breath. He died of Cancer 3 years ago this month. I go over periodically & smudge the house for her. My other daughter lives in another area of Colorado, she said her apartment was haunted....that she hear the voice of a little boy & thot she saw the aspiration of a woman walking by the window....she too burned sage to send them away. I would have to say that it is inherited....there is no way to ignore it or deny it. You either have it or you don't. But many do.
