It's funny you asked this question. My mother and I were just talking about this today. I'm female and I prefer a male doctor. I don't know why but I feel so much more comfortable with them and can trust them more. I tried going to a female respiratory doctor since I have respiratory problems, and I knew she was a good doctor but for some reason, I didn't feel comfortable. Yet, for like my GI doctor, I'm just so comfortable with him that I can tell him anything and am not even embarrassed to do a colonoscopy with him; whereas, I don't feel at all comfortable with a woman GI doctor. I notice that there are more female doctors nowadays, though.

The only time I prefer female over male is if I go to the Gyno. Even though the male docs legally have to have a female doc in the room, I still don't like it...I always request for a female Gyno.

My doctor is male. I prefer male doctors because they seem to be more concerned and understanding than the female doctors I have seen. I recently had to deal with kidney stones and had to make an appointment with a urologist. I chose the male urologist over the female.
With that being said, my son prefers a female doctor. He has seen a male doctor, too, and says he finds the female more understanding. (There's a husband and wife pediatrician practice in my town, and my son has seen both since he was born.)

Only a female for me. I feel weird if a male doctor is looking down there, if you know what I mean.

They are doctors and are trained to treat all the same. I have been to both and dont have a preference anymore. No matter what I go in there for.
