an even better question, why are they longer than they used to be?

i wish i could respond to each of you individually but can't for some reason so i will write a short conclusion that everyone can read. the logical thinkers say the longer tails are to ensure that they stay tucked it. makes perfect sense. then there are those that ride other brand bikes and of coarse they must be a smarta$$ about it. then there are those that have seen way to many butt cracks and are glad the tails are longer. thats understandable. yes we still have old bikers that look a little rough but it seems that the average harley owner these days is a professional of some sort and may need to be to afford one. as for me.....i don't fit into any of those catagories. i'm just an average guy, 5' 9" and want to have my shirt tail out. the long shirt tails look ridiculous so i guess i will have to stop buying their merchandise. oh well....

Maybe so they stay tucked in your jeans better. You don't want lose clothing hanging down near the rear of your bike.

I haven't noticed as I don't own any. Just the normal bike week shirts you can get with any bike. The beer gut thing makes a little sense, they are longer all the way 'round, right?

Most likely is just the fact that we grow teenagers big these days. Have for a while now. They make me look short at 5'9", and I used to be average.

Because Harley-Davidson, although fashionable, is primarily marketed to bikers, and when riding, you need a longer shirt so it stays tucked in.

FYI any long sleeve item is generally tailored longer than usual too because of the arm stretch to the handle bars

They're longer than they used to be because as the clientelle(if you could call them that) of HD gets older the plumber crack gets bigger and begins to sag lower. The odds of a wet fart increase as well and they need that big shirt to soak it up.

they stay tucked in better. A sun burn where your belt should be really hurts.

Old school bikers have huge beer-guts, So when they bend over their buttt -crack comes out, with the long tailed shirt, that does not happen ...

Because too many innocent people have already suffered from seeing all that plumber's crack on Harley riders.

Have you seen these guys? do you WANT to see their butts? I am kidding, but (no pun intended) it is the reason.
