The temperperature differences are average high in July SATX 95 Den 88 average low in January SAT 39 Den 15. So would you rather be 7 degrees hotter in the summer on average or or 24 degrees colder in the winter.

As far as sports Denver has the Broncos and the Rockies, both of which are great teams. Both cities have fine basketball franchises. San Antonio, has never been able to get accepted as a large enough market for a NFL or MLB team. We do have the missions which are a good farm baseball team, and there are college football teams. But Houston and Dallas have the NFL franchises, and San Antonio has yet to be given one.

Both are big cities. Denver is the 25th largest city in the US and San Antonio is the 7th largest. Contrary to what has been reported by a previous responder there are no military bases in Denver, they are in Colorado Springs. San Antonio has three remaining military bases active in the city of the previous five. These are all within the city limits. From a safety standpoint as large cities, they each have crime and there are good and bad areas of each. The cost of living in San Antonio is 20.1% lower than Denver. Employers on average in San Antonio pay approximately 12 % less than in Denver. Therefore you can live more cheaply and better for the same job position in San Antonio. San Antonio is the second fastest growing major city in the US. Therefore, the job opportunities are going to be increasing at a higher rate in San Antonio.

If you like the beach, it takes about 2 hours and 45 minutes to reach the closest beach from San Antonio. In addition, we have the hill country with wineries, lakes, rivers for rafting and tubing, and lots of outdorr activities. While winter sports are naturally limited in Texas due to the moderate climate. We prefer to travel to the snow for a vacation and enjoy the warm weather. I have frequently taken my boats out in December and January on the lake. The lake is less than 45 minutes from San Antonio.

I have spent a lot of time in Denver, having been assigned to inspect and evaluate Fitzsimmons AMC, and the hospital at Colorado Springs. I also have frequently been to the area on business and vacation, I find it beautiful, and think it would be a great place to live. But I chose to move to San Antonio
when I retired from the Army, due to job opportunities and the entertainment oppotunities afforded by San Antonio.

Consider... a 2800 ft 4 bedroom 2.5 bath home home with a 2 car garage in SATX will cost you about $160,000-180,000. You can not compare that in most cities.

This is a no-brainer. Definitely Denver. The weather in San Antonio is the summer is stifling and with the humidity you could cut the air with a knife. So much more to do in Denver even if you don't ski. Summer is awesome. The temperatures are great with little to no humidity. I vote Denver. I've spent a lot of time there and feel it is quite safe.
