They have no wins over current top 25 teams or even "others recieving votes" in the AP rankings and have two losses, yet they remain ranked 15th. When they lost to Stanford they dropped from 2nd to 10th. Other teams have plummeted out of the top 15 from losses like that. Michigan dropped from 5th to unranked with their loss to Apppalachian St (who are just as good, if not better than Stanford). Auburn fell 5 spots last week for losing to LSU by 6, which was under the spread. I just want to know how USC manages to stay in the top of the pack even after losing when the rest of the rankings are getting shaken up so much.

well, this time it is understandable. They were ranked 8th (though how they improved for beating Notre Dame is beyond me.....and I'm an Irish fan)...and lost to the 5th ranked team on the road...when the Ducks were favored by 7 anyhow. So they shouldn't have lost much.

On the other hand...they should never have been ranked at eigth anyhow...losing to Stanford should have dropped tham out of the top 20.....and the pointless wins they have had since should not have gained them as much ground as it did. There is no way they should be in the top 15 right now...but we all know how much the media loves their SoCal whore lil Petey Carrol.

They fell to 19 in BCS. But I know what you're saying. There are 2 things I notice.
1. A handful of teams seem to always be ranked a little higher than they deserve
2. If teams lose early in the season they are dropped far more than if losing later. They will lag behind other same record teams for the entire season.

High profile teams have to really bite it big time to drop in the standing. Some of it is program strength but favoritism plays a part for sure. Being a Michigan fan I was blown away with the historic drop out of the rankings. But UM does get a little special treatment too, just not to the degree CA and Florida teams tend to get.

your right its a joke, but in the end it wont matter. they will lose again this year and fight for a spot in some worthless bowl, but hey on the bright side the condomns will be free to party new years eve without worrying to prepare for a game. the best news is they get payed enough money to bail themselves outta jail

the thing is, coaches respect pete caroll, people look at the championships and winning streaks, they look at ur program prestige, and the talent u have. which is weird, auburn should, if anything, gone up, not dropped 6 spots. but, michigan has two losses, Uk has 3, and theyre in teh top 25 or, reciving votes

The media is always the last to leap from the bandwagon. They won't leave until the wagon is overturned with the wheels still spinning.

Screw the rankings, this is a joke. It's all a joke. Screw LSU, USC and Florida for their rankings now.
