Is it strange that I am a huge Red Sox fan (born and raised in Boston MA)
However my favorite basebball player is Derek Jeter

thats actually not strange if you could believe it. alot of people hate the yankees with a passion, but love derek jeter. it doesnt make sense, but its not unusual. i even know a handful of people personally who are in the same boat with you.
by the way i also have friends who are die hard yank fans but they're favorite player is david ortiz. once agian, not unusual.
p.s. from a yankees fan born n raised in the bronx NY, good luck to the red sox in the world series.

how can that be i'm surprised!! yanks v. red sox is such a big rival most red sox fans want to make jeter overated b/c they can't stand that he's so good. what do the other red sox fans take it? i'm not kidding i'd like to know.
I'm a yankee fan and admire schilling as a great post season pitcher, but i do not like him at all as a person, i think he's nasty and mean!!
You get my point i can't see myself liking someone who is on the red soxs simply because of the whole rivalry.

We are life long Red Sox fans. I think its OK to love the Sox and Hate the Yankees but like a player. I don't think it there is a reason to hate Jeter, Paul O'Neil, Bernie Williams and some others. It was easy to hate Billy Martin, Greg Nettles and the Yankees of the 1970's but hating the NYY teams during the "Torre Era" makes little sense to me.

There is no problem with that.
Jeter is an amazingly talented player !
Same thing goes for Me
I like The New England Patriots ..but my Favourite QB is Payton Manning
I like The Vancouver Canucks Hockey Team
But I wished we Had Peter Forsberg on our team.

Ha ha, it is a little weird...but Derek Jeter is no doubt a good baseball player so it isn't unthinkable or anything.
I personally don't like the Yankees, but they have some good players.
The Red Sox are my favorite, though=)

Real baseball fans can appreciate the talent and respect players from other than their favorite team. Good for you and continue to enjoy the great game of baseball.

Eh. That's alright. Hey I'm a diehard RedSox fan and I acknowledge that the Yanks are a good team...(HAHA THEY FIRED TORRE!!!...Sry) And they do have good players(*cough* overpaid *cough*)
