How about the Europe defend itself and the U.S. save the money to protect it's own borders. I am tired of my taxes going to foreign countries. Anyone else?

Well, as I see it, the only country that wants U.S. missiles in Europe is the U.S.. Who exactly is it that Europe needs protection from? To the best of my knowledge none of the European countries wants or needs U.S. missiles in their country, they don't feel they're under threat from anybody and are quite capable of using their own missiles should the need arise (which it probably won't). And, I quite agree with you, why doesn't the U.S concentrate on protecting it's own borders and leave everybody else the fu*k alone? I'm British, and, as such, don't consider myself to be "European" so I can't speak for the rest of Europe, but, speaking as a Limey, I would say that the concensus is that the U.S.Defence Dept. can smear it's missiles with KY jelly and stick them up it's a*rse. Having said all that, I don't want to give the impression that I've got a problem with American individuals, I haven't. It's just "your" Foreign Policy that the rest of the planet has got a problem with, everyone's getting a little bit tired of the U.S. being the world's policeman. Peace. O.

Obama has by no potential suggested something approximately no longer continuing the Missle shield undertaking. Putin became merely hoping for a thawing of kin between the U.S. and Russia with the incoming administration.

Obviously you don't understand the importance of the missle shield in eastern europe. It is the most important thing Bush has done. With a missle "defense" shield up in eastern europe we could attack russia anytime we want without them being able to defend themselves. This will guarantee peace as the russians are not stupid and suicidal.

Yeah I second that, if Europe wants to get invaded again thats their problem. Why should we waste billions of tax payers money on countries that nether care for us or will even thank us after we have finished building it.
Last I checked European countries have their own military

The United States is interested in protecting its allies in Europe because if there is lack of support from Europe, US will be vulnerable to attacks coming from the heartland of Europe.

Because it would also defend against long range missiles traveling from the middle east to the United States.

It seems the defense contractors are lobbying congress to keep the in business.

Since the cold war was over, maybe they think the best way to handle this is to resurrect this nightmare.
