He paid the car off for around 18k. I have been paying him 313.00 a month. He wanted to pay it off so that the interest rate would be lower and we were going to put my car on his insurance by putting the title in both names.

Let me clarify the statement - We were together and he paid it off, I got the title - He wanted a 23 year old to move in the house. He told me I could leave if I didn't like his new roomy. I left but I felt morally obligated to pay for my car but now I have found that he has been lying about several things to me. I would and have never screwed anyone over but he is really in need of a whippin!!! What if I just paid $50 a month, could he take me to court still!?!!

Regardless of how your ex treated you - it is wrong for you to refuse to pay him back.
Legally you may be required to - I'm assuming there's no written agreement or you wouldn't be asking this question? If the agreement was only verbal then he may have difficulty proving such an agreement existed and that the payment was not a gift. However the fact that you have been making monthly repayments indicates that there was an agreement (the court would most likely take this stance if it got there).
As for only paying him back $50 per month - it depends on your agreement - if you agreed on $313p/m then he could still take you to court. You need to talk to him about it and see if he is willing to vary or amend your original agreement.
Just pay it off as soon as you can - if he treated you as bad as you make out - at least getting rid of the debt will afford you a chance to get him out of your life.

If you've been paying him $313 a month towards the amount he charged on your card, he could have a pretty good case in proving you intended to pay him back. I don't know how you can carry this on your conscience to walk away from your obligation. If you can't afford to pay him back, sell your car and give him what you still owe on the debt. Or get a loan to pay him off and make a clean break. You're an adult - act like one. I would say just from reading this that your boyfriend is way too trusting and naive... and that you're a con artist.

Yes, your Ex- Boyfriend did you a favor and it is up to him , and how he figures you out. If he said you didn't have to pay him back then consider yourself dearly Loved by this man. If he has asked you to pay on this, like $313.00, then you need to pay him back. It is called obligated and do your duty in regards to your financial obligations. If you Love him and are truly appreciative, then you NEED to stand behind your loyal Obligations to your Ex-Boyfriend.

No , not now as he has not filed any claims against you. As an EX separate money asap. NO insurance, nothing. NO change of titles he can then take it away. Moral obligations can quickly separate once money is involved. Keep detailed records. Pay if he is civil. NEVER give him anything else. -Experience-

I would keep it in your name. By putting it in his name your gonna start having some real problems. You should ethically continue to help pay of the credit card. Sometimes if you call the credit company you can ask them to lower the interest rate.

Natural obligation arises when someone pays for the benefit of another. The beneficiary has the obligation to repay due to principle of "undue enrichment".

if you want to keep the car you will.
You've already been making payments to him.
Going to be hard to convince a judge otherwise.
