Racism is the major discrimination for violating the equal protection clause of the Constitution.

Under section 1 of the 15th Amendment to the U.S . Constitution, discrimination on the basis of race for the purposes of voting is barred. This is the part of the constitution explicitly dealing with discrimination. There have been other federal laws passed on the subject, but this is the only mention of it in the constitution.
