Look to Florida
Then look to the ex pats from Cuba who live there, who fled from Cuba when Castro took over and want it to go back to the old ways were the rich were few in number and the poor were the vast majority that the rich had under their thumbs.

So why do they have so much power?

Look at the Elian Gonzales case a decade ago and how the whole ex pat Cuba community went nuts.

No politician wants to go up against that.
I don't blame them.

PS China is communist in name only, even Henry Kissinger, the cold warriors warrior says that.

You can travel to Cuba. You may not use your US Passport to do it. I suppose you could change your USD for the money of the country with flights into Cuba and avoid that part of the embargo.
Please don't bother to come back when you go.

You certainly can travel to Cuba (based upon them letting you in...same with all countries). But, freedom is never an absolute anarchistic belief in total human choices. Instead, freedom implies that choices are punished by democratically agreed upon procedures. In this case, you can travel to Cuba and have as much fun as you want, but there are democratically decided punishments that can be induced upon you upon your return to the 'free world.' Luckily, you can (and in my opinion should) try and change the travel restrictions. My guess is that this will change with a change in leadership, but I've had my hopes dashed before.

The Cuban vote in Florida. Both parties are scared of the Cubans in Florida. That senile and lazy class state has way to much power.

You're wrong. Technically we're allowed to travel to Cuba but not spend USD there or accept any gifts.

Travel had been regulated due to politics and religion even when we had a free world.
