From Nixon to Clinton I never questioned my leaders, but I wouldn't raise my hand to protect a Bush voter...your thoughts ?

I agree. I became a citizen because this country and our founding fathers had such great insight. I love our constitution.
They may have gotten the gun thing a little wrong but hey ;-)

So, Bush has brought us down to nothing. We look like maniacs ready to attack anyone who doesn't believe as we do. We have become the very thing we fought against. We are being controlled by religious fanatics, our freedoms are slowly disappearing and so is our class system. Democracy?? We can not give what we do not have.

If in fact your a veteran, (which I doubt) You would feel more belittled by a President that wants to see a victory against terrorism by our military than have a President that feels that our troops cannot possibly win a war? Well, by pulling our troops out and leaving the middle east as it is, or actually worse than it was before we went in, would just reinforce to our allies and enemies that we are a weak nation with no ability to defend ourselves or others and invite attacks on our soil. That to me is belittling to our troops, our country, and our citizens. Actually nothing belittles you more than your own statement.
I would hate to see our troops that have fought valiantly, have been wounded or been killed in vain. That would be most belittling to our troops. I really don't want you to defend me. And I certainly wouldn't want you behind me in a firefight. I would much prefer you in front of me so I can see what you are doing. Since you feel that way about our country and President, I find you totally untrustworthy and pray you were not in combat with our troops. For I feel you would be the one shooting randomly at whatever moves. Even if it's an American Soldier.

Considering that Jimmy Carter's first act as president was to pardon all of the Vietnam draft dodgers and let the US embassy employees rot in a Iranian prison for 444 days makes me wonder if you ever read or watched the news while in the military.

Were you part of Clinton's efforts to downsize our military in terms of manpower and funding? Clinton, on a personal basis, hated the military.

i served under bush and didn't like how we were treated , hell my whole troop had 15 rounds of ammo apiece when we entered Iraq, so i got the hell out. but i would protect anyone who needed it, there or here.

We cannot change human nature, and we cannot legislate or force others to be honest, thrifty, safe or intelligent. They must do it on their own or bear the consequences.

The price of liberty is far more than simple vigilance. The price includes the integrity to accept complete personal responsibility for our lives, safety, property and welfare. The price that so many find hardest to pay, however, is the integrity to leave everyone else alone to do the same

Omg, I really shouldn't be answering this. But, since my dad survived Normandy Beach I feel I have to say something. I feel that all of our servicemen and women past and present are being spit on by the corruption and seemingly tunnel visioned opinion and actions or lack of action of our government at the present time and for the past 7 years. All that have lost their lives, limbs and minds gave the ultimate price for this country and are being treated like it was their civic duty and should suck it up and move on. My dad said it was his duty and he did what he was ordered to do. That's all he would ever say. I think our country is in disgrace right now and no longer ruled by the premise of "by the people, for the people" but rather by a few, for a few. Sorry, but that's the way I feel. I for one continue to hold our servicemen and women in highest regard and afford them my greatest respect.

I totally agree w/ you.
First, I will always respect our service men & women & I am grateful to all of them. It is sad that so many had to die following an idiot into war.
The presidents are entitled to mess up in their personally lives. But Bush is a freaking idiot. He is as dumb as a box of rocks. I can't believe he got elected. I thought our voters were smarter! (I couldn't vote yet, I wasn't 18) Seriously, a war for WMD's that didnt exist? Woudn't you have to be 110% sure before you did something that severe??? It makes the U.S, look terribly bad!

It seemed right from the start things were questionable. Being defeated by the popular vote and winning. America will never be the same in the eyes of the world and he has definitely been for the rich and not the middle class. His war failed and now he refuses to help children have insurance, not to mention the national debt.
