That depends
when was the last time you serviced the suspension?
if you had an alignment a year ago HECK YES
if the car has the factory ball joints with 200K miles and never been greased........
God luck
BUT ON A PLUS NOTE I have never ever seen an upper joint just fall out. I have however seen lower ball joints and tie rod ends just fall out

If I could see the future, I would be playing the lottory and sitting at a sports book in Vegas, rather than sitting here answering questions!
You have left out a lot of information. First how bad is the ball joint? Has it been greased regularly? How far are you going to be driving in the next three weeks? If you take the car 2 miles round trip to work and do not use it for anything else the answer will be different than if you drive 200 miles a day delivering Pizza!
Your best bet is to take it to a qualified mechanic and ask them to give you an opinion on the safety of the car now!

If it isn't too loose and has been inspected my a qualified tech. leave it up to him to make the call. Ball joints are relatively inexpensive and are easy to replace. Go to autopartswarehouse.com and have a Moog upper joint mailed to you. Your local Car quest stores also carry Moog products. Advance Auto HAS TRW ball joints which are top shelf also. If your spindle flies off your car because of a bad ball joint you could wreck or slam into someone else.

ITS NOT WORTH IT
> my lower ball joints and a pitman arm had to be replaced and i left it for 2 months or so. due to this fact it threw off the wheel alignment completely.
>in the mean time while i was driving around with my head up my *** the outsides of my font tires were being wore out.
>now i have to buy 2 new front tires with the parts, and wheel alignment
i learned the hard way, so how about ten points and you save your tires

Don't worry about the ball joints. They develop a little wear on them and you may be able to feel a difference in steering, but those things almost never come apart and it will be safe to drive as long as you aren't driving like a maniac.
