You can't really. Under the bowl there is a s curve that serves as a gas trap. The top of that curve will be the top level of your water in the bowl. If you can somehow raise that then the water in the bowl will raise also, but in doing that you are plugging the toilet. Also the s curve is porcelain and can't be manipulated as far as I can tell.

I think the level in the pan is determined by the style of the toilet you cant make it higher or lower, unless there is not enough water being flushed, if this is the case then on a toilet with a handle on the front adjust the ballcock, if your handle is a push down button type then you will have to adjust the tube inside. But first take off the lid and flush the toilet to see if the cistern is emptying.

Dozer is right, the s-curve at the back keeps it at a certain level. one thing you could do is check to see that the toilet is level front to back, this might be affecting the level in the toilet. if it's not level, depending on how handy you are, you could remove the toilet, put down a new wax ring and re-install the toilet and make sure it's level- use metal shims. you may just want to leave it unless it's really a problem.

No difference --- you just experienced Boy toilets vs Girl Toilets. Water level in BOWL (not tank) is determined by TRAP design .... LOWER water for Boys or they are "dipping" ---- higher levels for girls as courtesy of less splash. I have found even Home Depot and Loews toilet salesmen don't know this.

I guess I'll let my brilliance shine through and surrender another one of my trade secrets. When installing the bowl instead of making it level shim the back slightly so it is tipped to the front ever so lightly. Water seeks it's own level so if you raise the loop in back you also raise the water level in the bowl. There is no other way.

the toilet is designed to have a pre set level by design and it can't be changed. The tank level can be adjusted not the bowl.

You can't. It won't go above the level of the curve in the outlet at the back of the toilet.

Of course, you could plug up the drain, but then the toilet would be useless.

The float is where you need to work. If it's the old style (a rod with a ball on the end, just bend the rod so the ball is higher up allowing more water in.
