What happens before you can get the birth control shot?
My sister is going to ship off to basic training in January...
She wants to get the shot.

Theres a doctor that says he has to run a few tests before he gives it to her.

Is the doctor just trying to make money off her?
What tests do you need to run?

The nurses already gave her a physical exam...
and the doctor says HE has to now?
The nurses didnt find anything out of the ordinary and basically said she looks good.
Im wondering if this doctor is just trying to be a perve?

Can someone tell me whta they had to do before they got the birth control shot?

I was in the Army as well. And I also got "the shot". I had a physical exam and just a blood test. Then they gave me the depo provera, however tell your sister that if she is thinking of taking this shot for the first time she needs to be warned that it does not always take your period away, you experience WEIGHT GAIN and are very emotional. These are things that I don't think she needs to be experiencing while going through Basic Training (especially the weight gain). If she does not keep up with her shots, she may bleed for weeks or not at all after it runs out, these are things that she will not want to deal with going through 7-9 weeks of Basic Training and then additional Weeks during AIT (the training after Basic is over). The Army is not patient with new recruits going to the hospital a lot, it will interfere with her training and she may be discharged due to an excessive amount of going to sick call, I know they are strict with this at Fort Jackson.
As far as the doctor is concerned, a local exam and blood work is what I had and also what friends of mines have had. I don't think hes being a pervert, and if she feels this way tell her to see another doctor, possibly a woman, but I warn you against this shot.

I would run from this shot!

This drug, in a majority of women, cause serious health risks.

She could bleed for MONTHS on the shot, or she could have a regular period, or she could spot at odd times of the month.

That's not including any horrible side affects.

PLEASE have her look at this website:

and google "depo provera lawsuit" (there are several class action lawsuits against the makers of this shot!)
