Hi all,

My push mower got rained on for about 3 days straight. I went to cut the grass today, and of course the engine is wet. It starts, but runs for about 5 seconds and shuts off.

Anyone see any potential problems, or should it be OK after it dries?

Could be water in the gas. Look in the tank, water will look like a "blob" on the bottom of the tank. The "blob" won't flow through the pick up tube easily and tends to cause a blockage. Clean all the water out of the tank and it should run.

There are 3 needs to make a motor run. Air Fuel and spark. I'd be willing to bet you have a small amount of water in the gas and can be gotten rid of by taking out the bolt holding the bottom of the carburetor bowl .

just empty the gas tank , refill with fresh gas, keep starting it it will dry out and stay runing, next time put a tub over it, or plastic bin,
