It's a bit bizarre, but reflect for a moment on why celebrities get the public votes and tonight's result becomes obvious:

There is no great fan-base for late-night 'novelty' sports presenters, neither for wives of Rod Stewart. Sorry ladies, however accomplished you are at dancing, the Celebrity angle is bigger and soapstars (even lumpen ex-soapstars) and mainstream sports personalities will always win through. And Kate will be getting the pensioner vote because she seems like a nice girl to all the retireds who get to watch TV-am. The program has nothing to do with dancing skill, but if you want to be kind, the results are beginning to take account of the extent of improvement - Kenny Logan has come on much further than his missus.

I bet there's a fairly intense planning meeting going on at the BBC though, even though they can't possibly be construed as having fouled up. The great Britsh public has spoken, and as usual, they delivered quirky verdict - don't forget Tony Blair got a third term in office and he was incompetent too!

There is a problem where people don't vote for the best dancers because they think they are safe. It would be much better and fairer if people voted for the couple they thought should go. Then the best dancers wouldn't fall into this trap.
