At 5 weeks, if it looks like you have a little belly that is due to bowel distention and not the baby. Your little one is so tiny (the size of a grain of rice) that there's no way you could be showing at this point.

Gas and bloating and constipation and the hormones of pregnancy can cause you to have a bit of a pooch early on. If this is your first pregnancy, depending on what your body type and build are, you will most likely begin to noticeably show by month 4th or 5.

Congrats!

I could feel a little handful of belly around 7 weeks. I am 25 weeks and now I am sort of "officially" showing - meaning that complete strangers with no keen eye for pregnancies will identify me as a pregnant woman if they look me up and down. But I am still pretty small and I dont think my belly draws attention from many people-in fact they are usually surprised to hear I am in my 6th month. The coolest thing is how erratic the growth spurts are - sometimes 3 days will go by and I'll see a big difference, then a week or two will pass when I could almost forget I was pregnant. And the weight gain is erratic also - I've gained as much as 3 1/2 pounds one week, or lost 1/2 a pound another week. I actually started gaining weight regularly about 8 weeks into the first trimester - more than "recommended" but I needed to eat around the clock to keep away the nasea-if you get morning sickness, I suggest that you eat in the middle of the night and have a pre-breakfast at like 4 or 5 am. Even just a glass of milk or some yogurt during the night and then cereal before you get up for the morning. That's what worked for me and I never threw up. You may already know this, but in another month or two you can start to measure your uterus, starting at the top of your pubic bone and ending where you can't feel your uterus anymore. Figuring out where my uterus ended was hard for me until I was like 16 weeks but I think I was looking too high. All the action stays down way below your belly button for quite a while - when I first felt the kicking, I thought something was strange about me because I felt it really low, think bikini line. But your uterus doesn't reach as high as your belly button until 20 weeks. Anyway, the cool thing is that the number of centimeters you measure will correspond more or less exactly to the number of weeks you are. It starts to correspond better the further along you get, and can be off by 2 centimeters in either direction and still considered normal. So keep up your positive attitude and enjoy!!!

At 5 weeks there is no way you are already showing. The baby isn't big enough to even make you have a little bump. I am very skinny and I started showing at like 14 weeks but ppl could hardly tell. I could because it's my body and I am skinny (was 100 pounds). Now I am 19 weeks have gained 15 pounds, have an obvious bump, yet in certain clothes ppl still can't tell. Ppl mostly can tell when I have on a tank top or a maternity shirt that kind of makes me look more pregnant than I am. I want to stay small as much as I can but it doesn't look like I have long before I am bulging out there even more!

Congratulations on the baby btw!

aww, CONGRATULATIONS on the baby!!! having a baby is the best thing that will ever happen to you! :)
I started getting a small pooch around 12 weeks .. and then it got bigger and bigger until my 9th month when I was HUGE and waddling around like a duck! :)
It's totally possible to have a little belly at 5 weeks. Every women is different, it depends on your body type and it's also genetics.
When I started to show, even a little bit, I went out and bought maternity clothes so everyone would know I was pregnant .. and NOT just getting fat!! :):):)
go buy some maternity clothes and show off that baby bump!!
good luck! God bless!

Your belly will be here soon enough. Time really flys. Im 41 weeks prego and i remember asking a question on here a lot like this. Enjoy your body now because itll never be the same again. Its all worth it.. but by week 41 you'll be wishing that belly wasnt in your way 24/7. GOOD LUCK!!

with my first pregnancy I was about 24 weeks pregnant before I had a belly. When our son was about 7 months old I was pregnant again and I started to show at about 12 weeks. Every one is different...congrats!

At 5 weeks pregnant, you won't have a belly, that's wishful thinking.

The uterus does not even rise above the pelvic bones until about week 12. Unless you're carrying multiples, you won't start to show until at least 12-14 weeks at the earliest. People who say they show earlier probably were just bloated (common in early pregnancy) or put on a few pounds since they knew they were "eating for two".

It really would be too early to get a belly at 5 weeks even if you were skinny or not. It's probably just bloating. I friend of mine is really thin and was showing at 14 weeks already.

I think you can notice that your pregnant pretty soon because you know your body. It seems like I was already into my second trimester before people started noticing that I was pregnant. Before that I got the looks from people..." Well, is she fat or pregnant" haha.

I love standing to the side and looking at myself in the mirror. And the bigger I get the more amazing it looks.
Good luck to you and your husband and enjoy all the excitement!!

it isn't possible for your baby to be sticking out at 5 weeks,

BUT,

in some pregnant women, esp if your small (like me), your body packs extra fat around your mid-section almost as soon as your pregnant...i always start showing between 8-12 weeks! no lie! and i know it isn't all baby yet, but that's my body! it could also be bloating and gas related to the pregnancy, but i promise, my clothes don't fit right from 8 weeks on!

congratulations!!
