Evey one of us is capable of growing corn. Everyne one of us could press that corn and filter the oil that is oroduced from the press.
Every one of us could go out and buy a diesel vehicle and fit a DIY £80 heater to the fuel line and then fill the tank with the oil you have just pressed.

So if the governments of the world are so in favour of green policies, then why dont they do this?

Sorry, I know you are all not stupid and are all probably well aware of what I have printed, however, the point of the question is to get people talking abot the subject to anyone they feel like talking to.
All governments make a concious effort to totally ignore and stifle any talk, information or debate on this subject as they have not one single valid argument against it.
Therefore, we all have a duty to bring this subject to the fore and ram it down their throats.

Angel

They already put tax on the corn oil that I am presently using in my vehicle, the difference is, they do not know how much I am using as it is a voluntary self declared tax.
If you were growing your own corn, or indeed buyig it from the supermarket, the government would have no knowledge of how much you were using.

by golly man, you reinvented home gardening.

That would turn into a big money waster. The gov't would then have to come up with some garden tax man to patrol the neigborhoods and make sure you were paying the correct amount of tax for your corn patch or something stupid. And the oil and gas companies would not go out of business, in fact they would probably welcome it. Besides it would not completely eliminate the need for hydrocarbons in the UK. Good idea for ones own personal benefit though.

how do I grow corn in a window box. Are you talking sweencorn or corn as in corn farmers grow in fields.
I could grow a couple of sweetcorn in my box but I wouldn't get much oil from the other type as its only a small window box.
Seriously now though the goverment wont do anything that favours green issues even though they are supposed to encourage us to recycle & threaten to fine those who dont. They emit a lot of hot air which I'm not sure whether or not it actually helps with the carbon footprint. In theory though a good idea.

It wouldnt make any difference the green issue is all about making money. They would simply tax it out of existence,of course it would work and other substitues too.In Brazil vehicles can fill up with Pineapple Juice no kidding. But then where would we grow the corn the way they are carving up the green belt for housing the immigrants.

Despite what looks good on paper, you can not under estimate the power of the oil companies If oil was suddenly unavailable, what would the consequences be.Shudder to think

its all about tax. if you use cooking oil as diesel for your car you are supposed to declare it and pay the duty on it. i think its about 35p per litre or something like that.sod that though just top up with your used frying/cooking oil and dont tell no-one!!!

Cos like you say the oil companies wouldn't last long, and they'd lose out on all that tax.
