Independent.
For example, Democrats are supposed to be pro-choice and Republicans pro-life. Republicans Pro-2nd Amendment and democrats Pro-Gun Control.
I am pro-choice and pro-2nd amendment.
I make choices based on the political issues. Sometimes I vote Republican, sometimes I vote for various third parties. If the individual Democrat supports the majority of my issues I might vote for them if the other candidates are less likely to support my issues, BUT, I always vote Democrat as a last possible choice.
I just have a hard time believing that anyone who would belong to a historically pro-slavery, anti-civil rights party that has imprisoned peopled based on ethnicity and dropped nuclear weapons can have a brain.

Yes. Typically you'll see it described based on foreign and domestic policy. For instance a social conservative would be someone who believes in the traditional, strong American approach to foreign policy and a more liberal (but not completely liberal) domestic policy. Lieberman would be a good example. Or a liberal hawk would be another example; someone who has a liberal domestic view and believes in a strong pro-American foreign policy. There's plenty of other variations. You kind of have to interpret it. I'll admit it is rather vague sometimes. A true moderate is someone who'd down the middle on most issues.

Non party or Middle of the road. Allot of people are smart enough to be for the issue and not the party just because it is the right or wrong party.

Between Conservative and Liberal is Moderate.
Independent really just means not Republican and not Democrat.
I am the same way.
I hold this truth to be self evident:
If you agree 100% with either party, you have stopped thinking for yourself and decided to let your party think for you. To say the least, it is EXTREMELY unlikely that anyone who forms their own opinions would fall into either party perfectly.
The world needs more people like you.
Keep thinking for yourself. You don't have to allign yourself with anything except your own beliefs.

I tend to agree with the conservatives on the economy, crime & punishment, and gun control.
But I agree with the liberals on most other social issues, the seperation of church and state, and religion in general.
Most would call this Libertarian.

Anyone that says they do not share at least a few opinions with the other party are not telling the truth.
