Created in the image of the one God and equally endowed with rational souls, all men have the same nature and the same origin. Redeemed by the sacrifice of Christ, all are called to participate in the same divine beatitude: all therefore enjoy an equal dignity.
The Catholic Church believes there is nothing sinful about being homosexual. But homosexuals like all unmarried people are called to celibacy.
The Church specifically says that homosexuals "must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided."
Here is the text of the document, On the Pastoral Care of Homosexual Persons (1986): http://www.newadvent.org/library/docs_df86ho.htm

With love in Christ.

The Catholic Church's official stance on homosexuality is that it is NOT a sin. They only recognise homosexual ACTs as a sin. Meaning if you're gay and still a virgin then you're not a sinner and are therefore welcomed with (almost) open arms

The Catholic church does not recognise us, but the Catholic Clergy is another matter. It is a case of the right not seeing what the left doth.

Ok, as a practising RC, i get confussed as well, but the suppose the main principle is that Jesus welcomed everybody. The RC doesnt agree with homosexuality as a rule, but the catechsim of the RC says that it welcomes everybody and that as long as homosexuality isnt practised it is still ok to be gay, hope that makes sense xx

Who says the Church doesn't recognize homosexuals?
Homosexuals are PEOPLE, and they are recognized and respected as HUMAN BEINGS byt he Church.
Having said that, homosexuality is sinful- but we hate the sin, not the sinner.
Homosexuals who are choosing to live a CHASTE life face a difficult burden, gay/lesbian groups within the church encourage members to live outside the gay lifestyle in order to truly live as Christians.

the catholic church recognizes homosexuals, but they recognize them as sinners that need to be saved. also many local churches do not strictly follow the edicts sent down from the pope and the vatican. they welcome all people despite the hatred that is often taught in the catholic church.
