I do not believe it is the place of the government to have any jurisdiction over medical procedures.
Although many may believe abortion to be an immoral act, that is their prerogative. We live in a nation where you have the right to voice your opinion and the freedom to choose not to partake in it. If you oppose abortion, you do not have to have one. You can speak out against it. However, those who do not believe abortion is immoral or for one reason or another have the same choice.
I do not believe that the government, or legislators should be intervening in an issue of medicine, or an issue of morality/ We do not need to live in a nanny state and each individual should be allowed the opportunity to choose within the bounds of the law.

Abortion is a personal choice. No government or religion or any man should be able to tell a woman what she has to do with her own body.
Children should be born under the best of circumstances, not the worst. In the last two weeks a coed in a community near me gave birth in the ladies room of a college dorm and left the baby to die. Wouldn't it have been better for her to abort right after she learned she was pregnant? What about the babies that are left with people who shake them to death or molest them?
If a woman can go through a pregnancy and give a baby up for adoption, that's a wonderful gift. But not everyone can and sometimes there are circumstances that make it an unacceptable alternative including rape and the health of the mom and a whole lot of other things.
Most women who have abortions have had to make a difficult decision and society needs to stay out of it.

I believe that a woman has the right over her own body, but what about the baby's rights? I don't believe it is right to kill another innocent person. I believe that it should be illegal because how do you legalize murder of an innocent? I bear no ill will to those who oppose. I read recently about someone wanting to make it a law that you have to see the baby on ultrasound before you can abort it. I think that would be a great idea, as I think it makes the baby more "real". At six weeks pregnant I had an ultrasound, and she had a heartbeat. Made her so much more of a person to see that. Good luck with your paper, and excellent way of posing the question btw.

First, you should find out the History of it, How the Supreme Court granted the right to have an abortion. How does the Ninth Amendment come into play the procedure, the type of anesthetic used for mother and fetus. Is it a risky procedure or not? How a decision is made to have one. Are there any health risks and then state your findings and opinion. Good luck...

I am pro-choice as I do not believe that the government should tell me what to do with my body. Also, the argument of when life begins has become an essentially religious debate which is also none of the governments business.
Personally, I cannot think of any circumstances that would have me having an abortion, but I cannot say with any certainty that I never would.
I am absolutely 100% against abortion as a means of birth control. Yes..accidents happen, but to proceed without caution generally thinking that you can just have an abortion later is abhorrent.

For your paper, you should discuss all of the angles. What is an abortion? Under which instances is abortion legal? What sorts of objections to abortion are cited by opponents of abortion (legal, ethical, religious, etc.?) What sort of issues do the proponents of abortion cite in their defense?
Abortion is as personal of a decision as any that I can think of. Most proponents would never have an abortion themselves, but they do think that the option should be available. The fact is that abortions will be performed regardless of legality, recent statistics show the abortion rate is similar in countries where it is illegal as in where it is legal. The questions for me are 1., do we want to make unfortunate girls and women into criminals? and 2., if abortions are going to be performed regardless, why not make the procedures safe?

I am pro-choice. I believe in preventing unwanted pregnancies, which reduces the need for abortions. I value actual lives--you know, those who have already been born--over potential lives.
That said, I'm glad it's a choice I never had to make.

Im pro choice - Im all for pro-choice people having abortions, and accepting the Darwinistic position - the pro-life people will ultimately prevail because they will out populate the pro-choice types.

I think it is highly immoral to kill someone just because of their age, race, sex, or anything else.
