Hi everyone, i own a 1995 lincoln towncar and a couple of days ago, a dash light turns on that says "Air Bag". I already hooked up a code reader to it but it doesnt bring anything up. i really dont want to mess with it until i know what it is. Right now i cant afford to take it to a shop. But i need to use my car for work and i dont want to be driving with my air bags not working. can somebody help? please and thank you.

The light means that the computer has detected a problem with the airbag system (possibly the airbag itsekf, maybe one of the sensors.) Basically, it's saying that it probably won't work.

The software to read air bag codes is not the same as OBDII . What this means is that the air bag is not working or won't work . Now this happens all the time, many cars do not even have airbags, I wouldn't worry about it.

It could be that your airbag in your lincoln needs to be replaced/serviced, certain manufacturers suggest that you get the airbag systems replaced or serviced after 10/15 years.

The light doesn't necessarily mean you have a problem with it, check your manual if you can find it- it will tell you exactly what needs to be done.

There is a fault in the air bag circuit, and it will not work if you get into an accident.

Usualy the "clock" spring goes bad in the steering wheel.

For the exact meaning read the manual, but one of my parents' cars has the airbag light go on and off without changing anything about the airbag, so... maybe it means NOTHING!

But I would read the manual and see what IT says to do.
