I do prefer Burton and K2 however I just don't know what is the best route to go....

Please also consider a Ride Snowboard - the Control and Decade are great beginner boards. Ride makes very good snowboards and the Control is an excellent board to learn on and to progress to an intermediate rider.

There are alot of good begineer boards available made by various brands, but as you percifically like Burton and K2 i would suggest going for either a Burton Clash or a K2 Select. Both these boards are easy to ride and good to progress on, the sort of size you need is around a 154, Good Luck with the riding.
