Cameron,

The thing is, you don't start with an agent. Your dad needs to get you into classes first. Then you audition for theatre. You need to have training and start building a resume before an agent will even consider you. Just stay away from places like John Robert Powers, Barbizon, etc. THose places are way too expensive and often misrepresent what they really are. They're not agents, just overpriced and worthless classes.

You need real acting classes as well as dance and voice. Get the training, get theatre credits, then start suditioning for student and indie films. Look at backstage.com and actorsaccess.com for auditions. Dad needs to help with this because some info is free, but at some point there will be a fee. If these sites have good audition info for you in your area then you'll want to subscribe (to backstage) or in the case of actorsaccess, it costs to submit electronically for auditions (not to mail them). It's free to setup and fre to see the auditions so have dad check it out. You can also subscribe to Showfax which is a sides service. They provide the script pages for your audition (if they're available) instead of you wasting gas to drive all over town to get them. It's $68 per year and you can submit all you want for free on actorsaccess while you have the Showfax subscription. It's a great deal if actorsaccess has a lot of stuff for you. FYI Actorsaccess comes from the people at Breakdown Services which is the casting service that every legit agent in Hollywood uses on a daily basis. Both sites I suggested to you are industry standards and completely legit.

good luck,
Marianne
