SWEET TEA, crawfish, fried everything you can think of,including dill pickles, twinkies, snickers bars.
We believe in family gatherings, especially for the holidays. We belileve in hunting and fishing. Football is a religion, not just a sport, and games are WORTH fighting over. We believe in manners, and even say thank you. We believe in protecting our family's come hell or high water. But most of all we believe in the SOUTH and are very PROUD TO BE SOUTHERN.
ps,,,we don't like yankee's...(unless they go back North that is)
People NOT of the South stereotype us as: Inbred, lazy, stupid, all having bad teeth, fat, and alot of other things; None of which are true. You will find Southerns to be friendly, well kept in most cases, and eager to open ours doors to outsiders. We don't walk away without helping when we see someone hurt either.

You know? I'm not your typical Southerner. I was born IN South America, from Cuban roots, and a bit of Seminole Indian (though not raised with that culture) thrown in for good measure.Yes! Born a Foreigner, but Southerner by Choice. I came here at a young age, and embraced America as my own. I even served in our Military. I pledged allegiance to the United States, for life. This is my home! Don't know or claim any other. Lived in Florida (how much more South can you go?), then eventually moved to Oklahoma. So I guess that makes me an Okie Transplant. The people in both of these states.are not only friendly, but always like to lend a hand. The food is awesome. Football. Sweet Tea. Need I go on?

I'm what the second "lady" considers a Yankee, but I have lots of friends down south. Cooking is phenominal down there, biscuits and sausage gravy, grits, fried chicken, greens, sweet tea, all Yummy and worth the trip. And I have been shown what southern hospitality is all about when my daughter moved to Kentucky. Most southerners are very gracious and hospitable, but as with anything, you have your bad apples too. I just haven't run into any.

Be portrayed as a bunch of ignorant rednecks by people like Cindy K is the stereotype. For most southerners it is hospitality, good friends, good food, family, love of Country and God.
