is the battery alright?
electrical cables can corrode internally with age; and new cars never had (realisticly) large enough cables anyway. have the cables tested for resistance over their length.of the have too much resistance, not enough electricity gets to the end.

examine the connections on your battery and cables and make beneficial they're clean and not oxidized. Reconnect the jumper battery to yours, and attempt returned. If it nonetheless clicks, take your battery out, take it to Wal-Mart, AutoZone, O'Reilly's, or some motor vehicle save and function it examined. no be counted if it fairly is susceptible, it ought to % charging (some autos are complicated if no longer impossible to leap with a ineffective battery). If the battery is okay, then your starter or start up change (contained in the column) is undesirable. My wager is the starter, yet examine this different stuff first. if that's the starter, the line cleanser will would desire to skip around.

what kind of car???
you need to make sure your battery is fully charged and then check your battery post to make sure they are clean. the starter it self may be bad. take it to a shop and have them check the voltage. the alternator should be putting out around 14.3 volts as the car is running. does the starter just chick when you turn the key or does it seem to drag slowly as it's trying to turn over?
writ back and let me know.

Check if the battery is fully charged, Check the cable/posts make sure they're clean inside and out and tight. If it's a stick try to push start it. It might be the starter solenoid that's giving you trouble
