Melky, Ian Kennedy, Wang for Johan and maybe they might throw in Tori Hunter if Cashman throws in a couple million or prospects. It is a possible trade. The X-Factor. I already know the Red Sox are going to win another championship. Being a Yankee fan, it makes me sick to my stomach. Johan Santana, gift-wrapped, in pinstripes would be the only thing that would satisfy Steinbrenner's apetite. It's the Yankees, it's Steinbrenner, its Cashman. Throw out some money, Santana will come.

The Mick. I know the sons are family, But I think the Boss trusts Cashman more than he does his sons right now. Cashman WILL MAKE THIS TRADE HAPPEN. He can't stand to get one-upped by Theo Epstein (I hate that man so much.) If the opportunity presents itself (and it will, its the Yankees) Cashman won't rest until Santana is in NY. Melky is expendable. We have to see if Petite resigns in order to put Wang on the block. Melky, Wang and any one of the numerous players we have to offer. Give them Giambi if we have too. Cashman is relentless so I like our chances. Yankee Winters are always exciting and they always come through.

Another note. The Twins know that their chances of signing Santana next year to an extention are slim. They want to move him now and get the best for him before he skips town. Also, the Tori Hunter situation is ideal because if Johan comes to the Bronx, why wouldn't Tori want to come. It is the Yankees, and who wouldn't want to follow Santana, the guy is money.

wdx2bb. Look at what we are really giving up here. Melky Cabrera. I don't know this for a fact, but he just got on the team last year out of the farm system I believe. So giving up Melky isn't that bad. I lost all faith in Wang after the Cleveland series. A Sinker baller who couldn't sink his pitch. He's expendable. And Ian Kennedy. The Twins organization would be silly to give up a chance to get this guy. Yes he has potential to become a pretty decent start, but so do Joba and Hughes. I rather give up Kennedy than Joba or Hughes. Johan, Joba, Hughes, Petite= 4 game sweep.

You got it, man. Yes, I think Johan Santana will play in pinstripes in 2008. The Twins will not let him walk after next year via free agency because that would mean they get nothing in return. Therefore, I believe the Twins will trade Santana this winter or next July for a package of Melky Cabrera, Chien-Ming Wang, and Ian Kennedy. This would give the Yankees one of the best pitchers in baseball, and give the Twins young contributors to help them next season and beyond.

Also, Johan Santana is a free agent after next season and will be looking for a 7 year, $126m - $140m deal, if the Yankees want him beyond next season.

No, the Yankees can't trade for Torii Hunter. He is a free agent, and therefore the Twins do not have the ability to trade him.

That's giving up too much. To answer your question, I guess it is a possible trade but I'm not willing to give away the store either. Melky, yes, but not both Kennedy and Wang.

My problem with any trade now is that the Steinbrenners and I'm talking about the kiddies, not the old man, don't really have a feel for the job. They've been to busy eating from that silver spoon in their mouths.

Pitching is a MUST during the off season. Without it we can't compete against the "Evil Tea Party". If the Twins are willing to take major cash then let them have one of the pitchers and the money but not both pitchers.

I don't think the Yankees want to give up three of their best young players for a pitcher. The jump from Wang to Santana isn't a huge one as these things go, and you'd also be short another starter and missing a center fielder.

It doesn't sound like a good fit to me.

HELL no Santana is a good pitcher but Kennedy, Wang and melky are the future of the Yankees franchise and Santana is a good pitcher but we don't need him at this moment in time

He might go to the Mets but the Yankees would be unlikely.
