I'm from a family with five kids (I'm the eldest, 60) who are all married (still to the original partners) and who all have kids (except me), who are all with their original spouses...or a special someone. My Mother is 90 now, and still in relatively good health.

The good Lord winnin' and the creek don't rise, I'll be having a big turkey dinner with all of my family for Thanksgiving, and a big ham dinner with some of them at Christmas. Not on the actual days ... those are for all our various in-laws (it's how we keep them all happy with us)... but on the weekend before or after the holidays. We don't care about the actual date of our getting together, just that we DO!

Actual Thanksgiving and Christmas Day will probably be spent with my sisters (and their families, including in-laws), who live just 10 miles from us.

Ever since my 3 children got their own homes we switch up whose house it will be....and we now all share the cooking; each fixing their specialities. Takes the wear and tear off it being one person.

For the last several years, believe it or not, we have gone to my ex husband's house, as he has the largest home and we open the doors to whomever has no family to go to or is visiting.

Christmas will be at my house....I place the tree in the sunroom outside my living room which really works well for all the gifts, wrapping etc. and keeps the rest of house fairly straight. Since I have both a breakfast room and a dining room I can seat 12 with no problem :-)

All my children and grands live in my area.

Usual dinner with all the trimmings for Thanksgiving. We do it all, turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, cole slaw, mashed 'taters, gravy, rolls, pies, etc. I do the turkey and stuffing, gravy......cause I'm picky. Everyone brings something to put on the table.

My son lives in Maui and only gets home a coupla times a year. This year, his Christmas trip is odd in that he is coming in on the 6th and, due to business concersn, must return on the 24th. So, we are having our Christmas on the 21st - which is my birthday. Will be the usual family things, just a few days early.

Christmas morning is at my daughters home - because of my (one and only) grandson. Later, they'll all come to my place where we have "family video and scrapbooks". We look at old home movies which I've transferred to videos. Everybody brings their latest pictures and/or scrapbooks and we "ooh and ahh" about that. We don't do a typical Christmas dinner anymore but I do put up a spread of hot and cold homemade thingies, stuffed mushrooms, shrimp, lots of dips, bruschetta, crudite, fried chicken, etc. - things that can be put out and nibbled on.

I'm not sure of my plans yet, I hope my family can get together, they're in different states and the weather plays a big part. Wherever we are we'll eat out for Thanksgiving, so everyone can spend time together. Then Christmas we'll fix a big breakfast, play games, open presents, then have our turkey or ham dinner later in the evening. Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas.

All of the family I have (except for my stuck-up brother who hasn't even talked to me in two years) already lives with me in this old house that I grew up in.

We already did a big Thanksgiving dinner (Canada), which turned out to be a big chore this year, because the weather went up into the mid 80s with a humidex higher than that.

But we will be doing the same for Christmas...hopefully in weather conditions much more favourable to cooking all day long!

Fixing dinner for whoever wants to come over. I make a huge feast, everything from scratch. Problem is, I live over 300 miles from the rest of my family and we have to work Wednesday.
Christmas will be spent in Georgia with hubby's family. Just found out Gramma has a bad heart and is beginning to suffer from dementia. We need to see her before it's too late.
It will be a busy holiday season, that's for sure.

We will be traveling both holidays. At christmas my daughter is getting married in South Dakota so we pray the weather holds to drive down there for her big day.

I'm hoping to have a family and friends gathering on the coast. We always manage to cook up a divine feast and everyone pigs out. I just wanna go fishin. I wanna lay in my bed and listen to the waves slap the shore line and smell the sea:~)

My sister-in-law always prepare thanksgiving dinner. For Xmas, I am sure. I have a grand-daughter in the Marines, in NC and she have hinted a Xmas dinner here. I, more than likely, will cook for Christmas.

I expect it will be with my sister in the retirement center. Family is getting thinner every year The older generation that is. The younger ones all have their own thing to do.
