Because that what makes him so scary. No matter what, no matter how hard you try, he will never die. He may go away for a bit, but he'll eventually come back to try to kill you again. If he was just a serial killer and all you had to do was swing a bat to his head to kill him would that really make him that scary? His thing is an imortal serial killer.. which i think is pretty cool! Maybe there is a way to kill him, but i'm assuming no one in his movies has really found that right way yet. Instead of slashing and tearing him to bits.. i think theres another way. Maybe a spiritual way? Not sure.. but i can't wait for the next micheal myers move. I also hope my future kids get to hear about him. He's a continuous trend unlike all those horrors that popularity dropped after one year. He be not as popular as he was back in the 80's, but his character always comes back in this way that makes it memorable, for ex. jason vs freddy.

Because he's a metaphor for the persistence of evil in humanity and the fact that however hard you try, evil will always rise again and must again be defeated by the forces of good.
And also so they can make lots of sequels.

The main reason is how would they make more movies. But the reason they want you to believe is that Michael is pure evil, and you can't kill pure evil. He is not longer human.

If they killed him off then they wouldn't have the next movie. This leaves the option open to make another one. If you had a movie series out and you knew you making bucks off of it would you kill the main character off?
