I've had to compare and contrast the New Testament gospels in class. Now that was interesting since John was way out there.
We also had to look at the gospel according to Thomas, which was not a part of the regular four.

I've also had to read Genesis and Leviticus for history class.... my my my...
such an amazing amount of information. That started a huge debate in class about whether circumcision is good or not.

In different classes, I've also read the Upanishads, different
Buddhist readings, the Koran and the Popul Vuh of the South American Indians.

What struck me is how much more alike these are rather than different. People had their rituals that marked different times in their lives: birth, coming of age, marriage, children, death,
just as we do now.

This taught me to keep an open mind. But, like any other literature, some of it was long winded and put me to sleep.

All the best
Antonio

I have read the complete Bible OT and NT right through once.
I studied the gospels to O level at school which meant knowing and understanding the texts and their differences thoroughly.
I have read the new testament to both my children at night before bed when they were kids.
