2x+3/5=x-8/2
simplify rt side
2x+3/5=x-4
subtract x both sides
x+3/5= (-4)
subtract 3/5 both sides
x=(-4)-(3/5)
x=(-4 3/5)
x equals negative 4 and 3/5

the way to do this is to bring the x's to one side, namely left and the numbers to the other side, right. So bring the right X to left, the sign will change, as you know. and the bring the 3/5 to the right, and again it's sing will change too. so on the left you have 2x-x, and at the right you have -8/2-3/5. so the left is X (2x-x=x), and the right, for ease, take the minus sign common and you will have -(8/2+3/5), now add the two number in the bracket. which will give you 23/5, so take the brackets off and you get -23/5.

x= -23/5. you can also write -23/5 as - 4.6 or - 4 3/5

i am presuming that in the question the 3 is only divided by 5 and the -8is divided by 2.

mult by 10 as 5 and 2 go into 10

2x(*10/1)+3/5(*10/1)= x(*10/1)-8/2(*10/1)
20x +3*2 = 10x - 8*5
20x+6=10x-40
-10x -10x
10x+6= -40
-6 -6
10x = -46
/10 /10
x = -4.6

NOW IF YOU MEANT: (2x+3)/5= (x-8)/2
YOU WOULD GET A DIFFERENT ANSWER
*10both sides
2(2x+3) = 5(x-8)
4x+6=5x-40
46= x

See 6=x/4+2 here 4 has the sign of branch it is going to the left and multiplies 6*4=x+2 i.e. 24=x+2 now 2 is with + it is going to the left and is subtracted 24-2=x for this reason 22=x or x=22 Ans.

first of all get the x by itself

2x+3/5-x=-8/2
x+3/5=-4
x+3/5-3/5=-4-3/5
x=- 4 3/5

2x-x+3/5=x-8/2-x
1.subtract x from both sides
x+3/5-3/5= -8/2-3/5
2.subtract 3/5 from both sides
x=-4.6 or -4 3/5
3.simplify to get the answer

good luck!

2x + 3/5 = x - 8/2

2x + 3/5 = x - 4

Subtract x from each side.

x + 3/5 = -4

Subtract 3/5

x = -4.6 or -4&3/5
