With a good teacher - very easy and fun. With a bad teacher - nearly impossible.
I tried a ballroom class when I was 19, the teacher was absolutely terrible but I didn't know and I took it as I don't have any ability for ballroom. I tried it a few years later with a better teacher, and I was able to dance and enjoy it in a matter of a couple of months. You can keep improving your dancing forever, but you can learn the basics and have fun with it very quickly.

Can you keep the beat with music? When you are sitting down does music make you sway, tap your feet, rock your shoulders, etc. ? If yes, then dancing is just moving your whole body to the music. I learned basic ballroom in about a year, which is to say I felt confident to be on the floor with a new partner doing about 10 dances. It depends on your natural ability to feel music. Go for it! Dancing makes life better!!

It's like most things in life. Almost anybody can gain a basic competence. Standard dancing is, after all, based on normal walking. Real expertise may take a lot of dedication and years of work, but it's most enjoyable whether you want to become a decent social-level dancer or a top competitor.

At a newbie point, you are able to truly be doing "Bronze" point steps and figures in all of the ballroom dances. maximum folk look to think of that East Coast Swing, Foxtrot, and Rumba are the least perplexing steps. American Ballroom Tango grow to be the main perplexing for me and my spouse to check. that's often greater convenient to check ballroom in case you have past dance journey in ballet or jazz. concerns alongside with posture and stability are significant. American Ballroom Tango isn't comparable to Argentine Tango. we've been taking training in Argentine Tango and we are nevertheless looking new issues to check after 8 years of training.

My best mate finds it quite easy to learn (she's done it for a year 1/2 and has passed every medal she has had the opportunity to take) but it depends on the person. Musical people can pick up the beat easier and flexible people can do the bends and lifts easier.

anyone can learn the basic steps i suppose! it's making it look amazing...look like good ballroom dancing, thats the hard part!
Depends why you want to learn? for enjoyment and the social side, go for it you will absolutly love it believe me!!
However, to be up to standard for competitive dancing, it will take many years of hard work, determination, expense...and many many blisters hehe!!!

Just find a beginner's class in your area and you will soon learn the basics and then on to more advanced steps if you want. Great fun, great for social life and it keeps you fit.

It depends on your co-ordination and what dances you will be learning. Practice, practice, practice, and hardwork will be key. Don't get frustrated, since you have no dance experience. It is easy to give up if you get frustrated and don't practice.
