It IS (and always has been) the sabbath -- sundown Friday to sundown Saturday!

Depends on who you ask. For most Christians (except Seventh Day Adventists and possibly some others) Sabbath is on Sunday to commemorate the day that Jesus rose from the dead. For Jews (and also some others) Saturday is the day of rest.
