Because copying real life dramas in truth is stranger than fiction, although possibly, and more likely the truth is that true life has only became a copy of perverted entertainment.

Because it gives members of the audience the opportunity to gossip and speculate about the characters. An old bumper sticker I once saw on a car probably describes this best:
"Above average people talk about ideas. Average people talk about things. Below average people talk about other people".

because when you hear about these, its usually celebrities, and people look up to celebrities, because they make a lot of money and are seen all over america
