it might not be the belt, it could be the bearing in the alt. fixing to go out. you might want to try a little more trouble shooting

My can of STP brand belt dressing says to spray a small amount of belt dressing to the underside of the belt i.e. the belt surface in contact with the pulley. Be sure to use a "small" amount. In my experience to much dressing can cause the belt to slip off the pulley. Use a little bit, run the engine. Then use a little bit more. Check in between applications to see if the squeaking is reduced or eliminated.

Often your only practical course is to replace the belt. We had a 1998 Caravan with misaligned pulleys and had to replace the large serpentine belt every year.

That "dressing" is gonna fix the problem for a couple days. Replace the belt and the belt tensioner. Make sure the noise is not coming from the a/c compressor or the alternator bearing

your supposed to spray it on the belts, and its supposed to stop them from making noises ,it will work for a little while but then the noise will come back ,the only true cure is to replace the belts on it,and also check the pulleys out real good they could be worn down some and even a new belt wont help if that's that case, good luck with it.

That's like putting a bandaid on a broken arm.

Go buy a new belt.

Shut off engine and spray on the "inside" of the belt, start engine then shut off and repeat.
Do not spray while engine is running because it wll splatter all over the place and you could get in your eyes.
