I have looked at several sources I have available both online and here at the house. They vary in the length. Some use the phrase "a few days". While others state it took "over a month". These were all from sources used for Texas History courses and from the Alamo and San Jacinto Historical sites. It is just clear that General Cos, a brother-in-law of Santa Anna, turned the Mission San Antonio de Valero into a fortress by adding 21cannon and troops, and was confronted by Ben Milam and approximately 400 Texians, surrendering in December 1835. He returned to Mexico, agreeing never to enter Texas under arms again. He returned with Generalisimo Santa Anna for the Battle of the Alamo and was then captured at San Jacinto.
