C7H6O3 + CH3OH --> C8H8O3 + H2O

1st reactant = 1.50g Salicylic acid
2nd reactant = 11.20g Methanol
1st product = Aspirin
2nd product = Water
Experimental Yield is 1.27g

What is the theoretical yield?
What is the yield percent?

Please help me out ive been trying to figure this out for the last hour... Thanks

Convert all to moles!!
The molar mass of salicylic acid:138.123 g/mol. Thus 1.50g salicylic acid is 0.01086 mol salicylic acid.
The molar mass of Methanol: 32.04 g/mol. Thus 11.20g methanol is 0.3496 mol methanol.
Clearly salicylic acid is the limiting reactant.
By the way, C8H8O3 can not be Aspirin. Maybe it is Vanillin. Anyway, the molar mass of C8H8O3: 152.15 g/mol. Thus 0.01086 mol of C8H8O3 is: 1.65g. This is the theoretical yield. The yield percent is 1.27g/1.65g = 77.0%
