I had to repost because I forgot to mention that we have to use ready to feed because it is thicker than the powdered Nutramagin so I can't just use bottled room temp water.

So here is my post...Thanks!!

How do you warm your babies bottles, ecspecially in the middle of the night? I am currently using a bottle warmer, which takes forever, and she screams her head off while waiting which isn't good either because of her Gerd. With my oldest we used the ol microwave but now there is so much oh no don't do that. Why? My 11 1/2 year old is still alive! Just asking.. Is the microwave only on the don't do list because of temp or does it break down nutrients??

Thanks!

i always held the bottle under hot water from the sink until it was at the right warmth. that is all you need to do, it doesnt take long to warm up that way.

I HATED the bottle warmer in the middle of the night! The microwave isn't a good idea b/c the bottle can get "hot spots" and burn their mouths. I ended up not warming the middle of the night bottles at all. If you are using the "ready to use" then just try them unwarmed and see if your baby likes it....my son had no problem with room temp bottles. If not, then I also held the bottle under the faucet until it was a bit warmer and that worked too.

The only risk of microwave heating is uneven heating of the formula. I used to just use boiling water, but it took way to long, and it made the bottle so hot, I couldn't hold onto it. I now use the microwave, and am just careful that I shake it before I give it to my son. However, if you are breastfeeding do not use the microwave, as it will break down the milk and render it useless. Just do what feels best for you and your baby. If there's one thing I've learned it is to ignore everyone and just listen to medical professionals and your instincts. Good luck!

what i do is fill up 2-3 bottles with water only (before bed) then buy powder formula and sit it all by my bed at night for when he wakes up all i have to do is add my scoops of powder. they most likely wont mind the bottle at room temp.

You can microwave it. Just make sure you shake it really well to avoid hot spots. However, if it's ready to feed, can't you just use that at room temp?

I do room temperature feedings, it's what was recommended to me at the hospital. This way there is no worries about it being too warm and no waiting for it to warm up. Makes traveling easier too. We used the premade stuff in the hospital and fed it room temperature, baby didn't mind at all.

Have you thought about maybe warming it before bed and then putting it in a Thermos to keep it warm, and just keep it next to the bed with some empty baby bottles so you can just pour in the formula when she cries?

I use the microwave to heat my daughters bottles, you just have to make sure that you shake it well because they heat unevenly, and not to over heat it either

The microwave can eat unevenly, and if you're not careful each time to shake it well and test it she can get burnt.

I dont see why you cant use a microwave if you're careful.
