Okay, so its a little decision but it can spare me procrastination. :) thanks. So, where should I study, if I stay at home, I'll procrastinate and fall asleep or keep going back to this computer...if I go to Border's or Starbucks...its soo noisy, with the Cappaccino machine, the smell of coffee, interesting conversations.... Where should I study, Home or Border's? Thanks !

The chairs at borders are uncomfortable, the restroom is upstairs.

Well, there's too much stimulus at home to draw your attention away from what you are trying to do. There are too many things you would rather do at home, like a television, a cumfy couch you can fall asleep on instead of study on. The book store isn't much better. Personally I prefer Barnes & Noble over Borders. They have couches... But I would also be tempted to eavesdrop, or be distracted by it anyway. How about a place that can be comfortable and quite at the same time. Pick a sunny day, go to the park and sit under a tree. I know it sounds cliche, but I love to find a secluded spot in a park to read. If you want, you can bring a cappucino with you.

This may or may not be good for you, but maybe you could try a reward system.
Set a strict schedule for study times. When you feel that you've done well, reward yourself with something special.
Studying outside home will only work if you feel that wherever you are is a place that allows you to focus undisturbed.
For me, I find that the library and the park are the two places that allow me to completely focus on what I'm doing.
I hope this may be of some help.

This may not be such a little decision. It may be indicative of a bigger problem.

Put yourself in study mode and it really does not matter too much where you study. At different times; I have been able to study in noisy dorms and quite libraries.

One of my favorite places to study ... weather permitting is in a car. I commuted 120 miles a day while going to graduate school. I did not study when the car was moving ... too hard on the eyes. However I did study in the car while waiting for the car poolers to finish their classes.

I don't want to destroy your sleep pattern, but when in college, I found that my mind is sharpest when I learn at night. During the day, I was distracted by noises and thoughts. At night, it was completely quiet, and my brain was focused. I read a long sentence and memorized it instantly. I've no explanation for this. I was extremely alert between 11PM and 2AM and was able to learn a lot of material in very short time. So, that's when I usually studied for a big test. ;)

There's a third choice: discipline yourself and study, period. It doesn't matter the place you choose, although I would pick a quiet place with no distractions. Turn your computer off. Yes, I know you can turn it on again, but it still won't be as easily accessible. Study for a specific period of time, allow yourself a break for food, etc. every now and then, and get on with it!

what about the Library....... I found the chairs at Barnes and Noble are soooooo comfortable, you don't want to get up. And I leave wondering where in the world did they find these chairs, BECAUSE I WANT ONE....... Library is a good place to study.

You could try studying at a library. The chairs will probably be comfortable, and it definitely won't be noisy.
