The period you have on the pill is not a real period at all. It's a withdrawal bleed which the original designers of the pill thought women would want (to ensure them that they weren't pregnant and that the pill was working.) Female gynecologists have been skipping their periods by taking the pill continuously for almost as long as the pill has been on the market and it's generally considered safe. I do it myself fairly frequently (after talking to several doctors about it) and it works really well. I find that I can't skip more than two or I'll have spotting, so Seasonale may have been designed with that limitation in mind. I really like having the option NOT to have my period when I'm travelling or the weekend of a triathlon, for example.

Having a period, I admit not fun, is a natural process that our bodies need to go through. I think messing about with it only leads to health concequences.
Take the pill for only 5 years or less to stop pregnancy is okay in some cases, but to actually lessen or prevent periods by the pill or other means is nothing short of being medically irresponsible in my own personal opinion.

I think we should let our bodies naturally do what its supposed to do. I know someone who recently died from blood clots due to ***** control. We have enough emotions and hormones running through our body than to be adding artificial ones and messing it up even more.
I was on depo porvera and it gave me cysts in my ovaries and no periods for like 5 months. I finally got my period back and am regular due to taking another hormone that had to replace the original artificial one that I put in my body before. Ladies we need to leave our bodies alone with all this new stuff to make us not have a period. Its just not worth it.

I think that our bodies function the way they do for a reason, and that to interfere with natural function is asking for trouble somewhere down the line.

My daughter-in-law said that there has been no long term studies to show the safety of doing so.

I think that messing with the natural rhythms of your body is like playing roulette, eventually you lose and you have to pay the piper.

It's not a good idea. Our bodies are like machines. If it ain't broke--don't "fix" it.
