My boyfriend and i were making plans for halloween night. Our children are too young to trick or treat so we were going to go to his moms apartment building because they were having some sort of thing in the lobby. Then I was going to go with my dad to visit my dying grandmother to show her the kids in there costumes. My dad and boyfriend dont get along so he wouldnt be welcome to go but he dosent really know my grandma anyways and we would have only been gone for 30 mins at the most and i told him this. Then we could have handed out candy or whatever for the rest of the night. He got so upset by this idea that he said me and the kids could do what they want he would make plans with his friends. Who is in the wrong here.

If he is the father of your children, he needs to be involved with all the decisions that affects their time and lives.

If your father does not welcome him, then when you are together, you should avoid meetings where he would be excluded.

It's your choice. If this is the man you are going to spend the rest of your life with, you are choosing him over your parents.

Perhaps the two of you could visit grandma when dad isn't there, and you could take her a video or photo of the kids in their costumes.

It's not that anybody is in the wrong. We all have our own ideas in how to handle a situation and what may be the best. Sometimes we can't go on our own feelings but what the kids may feel. Wether they are too young to know the tension between your boyfriend and father or not, they need to start getting along for the childrens best interests. When you go along as a family the children will have a better sense of family worth. Sometimes we need to put our own feelings aside about how we feel about somebody. They may never like each other but it will teach the adults how to stand each other without tension when things do come up like this.

Your family comes first. The b/f should understand that. He can prepare for your festivities that are occurring later. Besides your Dad not liking him may be a sign to you.

He shouldn't keep you and your children from your dying grandma.
As long as he's not forced to go I don't see why he should have a problem with that.

He probably just has a thing about you leaving him for someone else. He is selfish. Go see your grandmother.
