Personally, I think anyone who is PRO-McCann OR Anti-McCann is crazy. We don't know all the facts. Until the day the court says "guilty" or "not-guilty," we won't know all the facts. Without all the facts, everyone taking sides is acting on conjecture and personal bias; neither of which are very reasonable ways of forming an opinion. So I agree with you that people throwing around insults or boycotting you are over-reacting and being silly... but I don't blame them for disagreeing with you. If you are going to be irrational and form an opinion on something you don't really know everything about, especially something involving someone's life, then it is better to err on the side of innocence. They're innocent until proven guilty... even if ultimately turns out they did it. You have a right to your opinon, no doubt, but leave it to the courts and you'll come across as being more mature and intelligent than those throwing around insults.
