Platinum is the most precious in terms of cost.

But, if you define precious as being the most useful for any purpose including profit, I'd put my vote on aluminum, because of it's ubiquitous usefulness.

In the future any metal that can be used to chemically scrub carbon dioxide from the atmosphere will become precious in another way.

Copper. Without it, alot of our electrical appliances would stop being made. Everything from power lines to computers to Ipods to cell phones have copper in them.
